Chloride, Bromide and Iodide can be determined indirectly this way by adding excess Silver Nitrate solution to the sample containing the Halide, thus precipitating the Halide, and titrating the excess Silver Nitrate with Potassium Thiocyanate titrant using a Ferric Alum Indicator.
