Sustainability

Our Commitment to the Future

At Ricca Chemical Company, we believe that chemistry has the power to drive a more sustainable future. Chemistry is necessary for the continuation of several critical industries: Food and Beverage, Agriculture, Pharmaceutical, Energy, Clinical, Pulp and Paper, and more. Sustainable practices in the chemical manufacturing industry can have ripple effects throughout society by reducing chemical waste and contamination, fueling environmental research, and lowering our carbon footprint. Through responsible sourcing, efficient manufacturing, and waste reduction, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact, while delivering the highest quality reagents and solutions.

Our dedication to continual improvement has led us to seek 3rd party assistance from EcoVadis to identify and implement strategic development initiatives. EcoVadis is an organization that assesses businesses in 4 key areas of sustainability: Environmental Management, Ethics, Labor & Human Rights, and Sustainable Procurement. They provide a rating based on this assessment and provide tools and resources to help develop, plan, and implement new sustainable practices. Since 2023, Ricca Chemical Company has been annually assessed. We have been awarded a Commitment Badge in recognition of our sustainability achievement and improving our score from 2023 to 2024. We will be re-assessed in 2025.

In addition to working with EcoVadis, members of the Ricca team have been participating in classes from Supplier LOCT (Leadership on Climate Transition), a collaborative supplier training program aimed at providing suppliers of all industries the tools they need to record, plan, and improve their environmental impact. As a result, we are currently working on footprinting our Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions. To learn more about Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, check out the Environmental Protection Agency's guide.

Our Sustainable Procurement Commitment:
We believe procurement can help build fairer, more resilient, and lower-carbon supply chains. We commit to:

  • Doing no harm by rejecting practices that exploit people or damage the planet.
  • Working together with partners and peers to accelerate sustainable progress.
  • Leading by example by embedding responsibility and integrity into our decisions.
  • Sharing knowledge openly to create broader impact and improvement.
  • Focusing on the future to leave a positive, lasting legacy for people and the planet.
*This statement reflects our intent to align with the Sustainable Procurement Pledge's values while continuing to grow and improve our practices. The Sustainable Procurement Pledge (SPP) platform is a non-profit space for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and collaboration of those committed to embedding sustainability in their procurement practices.*
